Who was I supposed to tell?: Inside the culture of fear around Diddy’ - By Gussy in The iPaper

It’s a story that has gripped the world of music, entertainment and media. After months of increasingly lurid allegations Sean Combs - aka Diddy, P Diddy, Puff Daddy or Puffy – is finally set to face a federal trial accused of using his business empire to sexually abuse women between 2004 and 2024. The alleged abuse included having women take part in recorded sexual performances with male sex workers. Combs also faces dozens of civil lawsuits by women and men who accused him of sexual abuse. As the trial begins many are asking how did these allegations remain hidden for so long? Why did it take decades for alleged victims to come forward and how was Combs able to retain and grow his lucrative business deals throughout these years? In this powerful and provocative film, director Gussy Sakula-Barry speaks to many of those closest to Diddy to understand who really knew about the allegations; how the entertainment industry can enable and protect powerful men accused of abuse;  and, the impact that the alleged crimes have had on so many. Combs' legal team has denied that he did anything wrong. Over the next few weeks a court in New York will decide.
